"Finishing background tagging jobs" Pop up can't be closed

Sometimes this popup appears, but it can't be closed or put in the back ground until it finishes, resulting in not being able to do anything for ~20 minutes.  Is there a fix or known cause for this, it's extremally annoying.

26.0.3 is the last version for v26. Below is a link to the Qt5 64-bit installer.

Well, new version same issues. Tagging is completely messed up and now it's just a spinning circle anytime I try to change anything. As before the only thing I can do it delete all the workspace and start over. Cant believe I paid for this thing  
My gut feeling is that Slickedit has issues with remote files and getting disconnected from the VPN can cause some kind of corruption that puts it into this state.

What kind of remote file system is it?

And it must be accessed through a VPN correct?

Is it just one project in the workspace?  If so, can you send me the .vpj file?  It's XML, you can look at it and make sure you are OK with the information in it first.

Can you post a screenshot of the popup so we are sure we know which one you are talking about?

Are the workspace, project, and tag files (.vpw, *.vpj, and .vtg files) on the remote file system?

If the SlickEdit workspace file is on the remote mount, the tag file probably is too.

Could you create a workspace locally, and give it the paths to the remote file?  This way all of the SlickEdit files are local, some customers do this.  I hope this will solve your problem.

Sorry for the late reply. It takes a while for it to do this and it just happened.
My tag files are all local, just the edited files are remote, except for today because I
am at work and not on a VPN and it did it again.
I attached the screen shot. I can't x out or close this window until it is done.

So I'm taking that this is just a bug and I'll need to pay to get an upgrade to fix it?

Maybe you can adjust the background tagging options in settings.  There's quite a few of them.  Have you tried running a second instance of slickedit?
If you have windows 11 (or maybe 10), you can use multiple desktops.

If you are on 27.0.2, you could attach the debugger, pause execution, and collect dump information to send into product support so we could debug where it is hung up.  However if it is hung up trying to do a file read from a non-responsive file system, there's little that can be done.
