opening schema file (.xsd) crashes SE (12.0.2)

I have a vague memory of this happening before.  Nothing that I could find on this site.  What happens:  opening the file occurs, that is, the edit window shows the top of the file.  The cursor is frozen; in about 10 seconds, SE exits.  Doesn't happen with all xsd.  The one it happens consistently to is the top file in a set (ACORD schemas).  Makes it kinda tough to work with them.  For reference, it's the TXLife2.16 set.  The top one, TXLife2.16enum.xsd is the top schema.  It crashes.  It's not very large.  The included ones open OK; one is quite large.  Turning off auto-validate doesn't fix it.  Is there a file I can send along?

Yes, the problem needs to be reproduced to fix, so if you can post the "not very large file" you say crashes SE, someone may be able to help.
