Child windows?
« on: May 06, 2024, 01:43:01 AM »
I have a big display, and instead of wasting lots of (otherwise empty) space to have a single file visible at once in a tabbed window, I would like to have separate 'child' windows, each with a single (non-tabbed) file in it, which I can resize and rearrange to be able to look at multiple files (or multiple views in a a file) at the same time.

It used to be this way in older SlickEdit (not the only editor that has forced tabbed editing, to my inconvenience), but can it be done on newer versions?

I didn't see anything 'obvious' yet looking through the settings or searching for it here, but I'll keep looking for now.  If I missed something please point me to it.

Thanks.

I think you can achieve this (or nearly so), by dragging tabs out of the main SE window and then hitting Ctrl-Shift-Z (in CUA mode, at least) to hide the tab.  Repeat for the rest of files you want in 'child' windows and arrange as desired.
