Main menu missing
« on: November 09, 2024, 02:13:17 AM »
I've used SlickEdit for the past 23 years at work and always had a main menu, now as I am retiring I bought my own copy but the standard version and not the professional as I have at work. I realized that at work I only use the beautify function so it is not worth for me to pay an extra $150 or more.

As I use this SlickEdit version I cannot figure out how to enable the main menu.
How do I replace the ICONs with actual menu like we have in all normal applications?
Is that a bug in the version 28 or just a secret command to enable it?

This a bug - you can shut the menu off, but it requires a bit of work. Having it simply disappear is a bug.

Is this a machine that had an existing configuration?

Maybe your configuration is trashed.

You can start SlickEdit with a clean config like this:

vs -sc c:\temp\newconfig

OR

vs -sc /tmp/newconfig

The menu bar should get displayed with a clean config.
