Two monitor tool window sushi
« on: December 20, 2024, 09:36:13 PM »
At my office, I use a second monitor that I can't take with me on the road. What happens to me sometimes is that when I have search configured to use the tool window instead of the mini window and I don't have the 2nd monitor connected, the tool window is nowhere to be seen. Is there a way to convince Slick to ensure that the tool windows are created on the same monitor that the editor window is in?
SlickEdit Pro 2023 (v28.0.2.0 64-bit Qt5)

If you disconnect a monitor, make sure you restart SlickEdit. There can still be a problem though. Sometimes the OS still tells SlickEdit the monitor exists. If you got to Help>About SlickEdit... it will tell you what monitors SlickEdit thinks you have.

If all fails, exit SlickEdit and delete your vrestore.xml/vrestore.slk and restart

My main desktop has 3 monitors on it.  Sometimes I remote desktop into my laptop using one, two or three monitors depending on what I am doing at the time.  Add this to the fact that Windows likes to juggle my monitors when ever it goes to sleep.  This causes the same problem, undocked SlickeEdit windows can appear off screen or on an unexpected monitor.

I would also like to see a configuration flag that will force SlickEdit to open any undocked windows on the same monitor (preferably centered) as the main SlickEdit window instead of defaulting to the previously used window for that pop up.
