Install on Linux

I tried installing on Linux (CentOS) and get the error "permission denied" when trying to execute ./vsinst from the CD. I am logged in as root and the permissions on the file are r-xr-xr-x.

Suggestions?

Have you tried copying the installation files from the CD to your hd, and then running vsinst?

I suppose I could try that, but that is not what the installation instructions say to do.

The installer works fine on me directly from CD (using SLED 10).  Check your mount option in your fstab to see if execution of binaries is allowed on your CD drive.  Usually, giving the 'exec option to the drive should allow a direct execution of binaries from that partition, otherwise you'll get Permission denied error message.

fstab is usually located in /etc/fstab, and for a list of possible mount options, consult 'man mount'.
