Keeping keybindings after a patch or upgrade
« on: August 30, 2007, 03:23:49 PM »
Whenever I run a patch or upgrade (like the just-released 12.0.3), the first time I start SlickEdit it asks me which key emulation I want to use.  If I pick one, I lose all of my key customizations.

This time around, I just closed the dialog (using the X, since Cancel wasn't available).  Have I lost anything critical, or was this the right approach?

Here's what I do:

1) run save-config (from the slick-edit command prompt.  Usually reached with the ESC key)
2) run the update installer
3) run the new slick edit and choose my emulation preference.
4) load my macro modules
5) run vsusrdefs from the slick-edit command prompt.

That restores everything.
