reformatting asp files?
« on: August 29, 2007, 03:42:55 pm »
Why is this happenning? I still have to edit asp files for an older code-base project.  When I use SlickEdit 2007 for Windows, it reformats the lines when I don't want it to.  For example:
Code: [Select]
....
<%response.write "Line1"
response.write "Line2"
response.write "Line3"
.....
If I go in and edit something (delete spaces, etc.), SlickEdit changes the code to this:
Code: [Select]
....
<%response.write "Line1" response.write "Line2" response.write "Line3"
.....
Which, of course WILL NOT RUN. How do I make SlickEdit stop this?

I think it's caused by the settings here: 'Tools>Options>XML/HTML Formatting: Content wrap tab'.

Nope, that didn't help.

Oh, wait. I had to change the content wrap tab under the (block) settings.... Then it stopped.  Of course, now it won't reformat my html either....

You could make asp not refer to html, but then you'd need some extra work to make it all OK.

I remember having to uncheck the "Enable HTML Formatting" menu selection to avoid all this automatic reformatting.

Oh yes - I missed the Document>XML/HTML Formatting (quick) settings.
This is surely better than diggin into the complete XML/HTML Formatting options...
Thanks, HS2

and don't forget Schemes...those could help too. See the docs for more info (Help > Index > xml/html formatting).
