Community Forums and Firefox
« on: July 11, 2006, 03:46:25 pm »
Several links within the SlickEdit Community Forums don't work properly in Firefox because they have the wrong mime type.  For example, the login form returns a "php" file instead of "text/html".

It's not the end of the world, but it would be nice if it were fixed.

This should be corrected.  Please let me know if you continue to see the error.

timkemp,

I'm having trouble finding a repeatable test case that exhibits this error.  Can you describe the steps you're doing to cause the error?

After testing on five different machines, this error only comes up for one user using Firefox who has disabled meta redirects.  The prompt for the download is the RSS XML feed from the site.  I've logged it as a non crtical bug.

Thanks for your help in troubleshooting this bug.

I have not disabled meta redirects (I can't figure out how you'd do that besides using an extension, which I don't have.)

I'm running:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.4) Gecko/20060508 Firefox/1.5.0.4

I have exactly the same issue.  Here are the extensions I have:
  • Google Toolbar
  • Adblock
  • Tab Mix Plus
  • IE Tab
  • DOM Inspector
  • Talkback
All are the latest available through the regular update method.

Solved.  (Or I hope solved...)   Talk about annoying bugs....

For those of you who are wondering what the solution was:

After I made some changes to the page and then reverted them things are now working normally.  (I'm going to have to blame the cache engine that we're using as the culprit)

Let me know if it's working for you.
