Code Annotation Sorting Bug
« on: November 09, 2007, 03:21:03 pm »
Code Annotations don't seem to sort by date correctly.  Maybe its sorting the strings vs the dates, not sure but it isn't working :)

The curr. sorting just sorts the strings.
That's the reason for this workaround http://community.slickedit.com/index.php?topic=1787.msg7507#msg7507.

Besides that if the currently selected list is sorted by clicking a column button e.g. (Show all) type -> 'Date' column and the type is changed to e.g. 'comment' the 'Author' column is sorted !
Seems that sorting just refers to the column index instead of the real category. Not so good - I think...
In addition the columns can't be re-ordered. Would be nice if this is also supported one day.

I'll check out the fix, thanks for the info :)

IMO, if the values are gonna be there and be sortable they should work as expected.   Sorting dates as strings is a pretty odd way to sort.

Overall, as the number of annotations grows the default interface gets less and less optimal for handling them.

@asipe:
See attached the patched 'annotations.e' incl. the latest hotfixes (r12).
In case you gonna use it it's easier for you. 'annotation_date_hook.e' is still the same.
