Previous SlickEdit versions could recognize a Perl script if the first line in the file contained !#/usr/bin/perl, even if the filename did not a revealing suffix. This version doesn't seem to work that way. I have a file named makenv, and when I open it in the editor, the text has none of the formatting traits that it should have for a Perl script. If I simply add the .pl suffix, the editor recognizes the same code as Perl. Is this an expected behavior, or is SlickEdit being confused by the presence of the 'mak' substring in the filename?
