noob question re html
« on: April 23, 2008, 03:28:27 pm »
I'm on an eval copy of slickedit.  The behavior while editing html seems odd at best, but this is presumably operator error.

Here's a minimal scenario:
1) I create a new html file
2) I type '<div'
3) As soon as I type the closing angle bracket '>', SE helpfully tacks on the </div> and places me between the two tags and indented to add more html inside the division.  So far so good.
4) I want nested div's so I type '<div'
5) As soon as I type the closing angle bracket '>', SE helpfully tacks on the </div> *and* tacks on a *3rd* </div> at the bottom of the page.  I now have illegal html.  Wtf?

Any insight welcome.  I expected to have the tag matching behavior, that's great, but the behavior above seems to be a bug or at a minimum, massively counter-intuitive behavior by some feature.

Thanks
Kylo

Bummer ... first thing I tried in SE ;>

So can I turn off just the tag-matching behavior? It would still be nice to have other html-aware features.  Or should I just switch out of html mode all together?

Thanks!
