ex emacs user question
« on: June 04, 2008, 08:37:38 PM »
another question from an ex emac'er.  btw: I'm not complaining... I really like SE2008.  Its sweeeet seeing instantaneous source info!  I also remembering learning emacs and having to use emacs like it liked to be used for best results.  I'm sure SE2008 is similar.

my question.  I used to split my buffers and put the same file in seperate buffers in seperate file locations.  This was very handy when you had something like a struct def at the top of the file and were working in another part of the file needing the struct def.

I have been using the "preview" pane for something similar but the preview follows mouse/cursor focus.  Any way to pin the
preview pane?  Anyway to make the "defs" pane show struct type info instead of just names?  Any other wayt to open the same
file in two seperate locations?  Any other way to solve this using the "SE2008" way?

thanks

SE has had Window->Split Horizontally and Window-Split Vertically for a long time.  I'm not at SE2008 yet, but I imagine it's the same.
