v13.0.1, Select Block in vim, doesn't
« on: June 20, 2008, 01:19:55 PM »
I do this a lot.  13.0.0, from the menus, allows me to remove a block.  13.0.1 doesn't.  The problem is that the Select doesn't work.

So, there was a fix to ex.e which was sent by support for 13.0.0.  That got copied to the config directory of 13.0.1.  I hadn't noticed.  I unloaded it, and tried to load the version in the 13.0.1 install directory.  That got complaints that:  ex-set-showmode not found file:vi.ex offset=2381.  vi.e and vi.ex are not in the config directory, only the install.  Then I just deleted both ex.e and ex.ex from the config directory and restarted SE.  Now I can Select Block in .e files (don't know whether I could have before the delete), but not in .txt files (where I need to do this).  ???

Start 13.0.1 with a clean config and do whatever it is you are doing, and tell me if there is something wrong or if it works.

I have tried using the visual mode keys to select a block (CTRL + V) and then used h,j,k, and l to extend it, and that seems to work fine.  I also tried using Edit > Select > Block, and using the arrow keys to extend the selection, and that seems to work too.

The fix in ex.e was the  i  addition to support case-insensitive search/replace.  This is incorporated in the 13.0.1 ex.e.  What I found, and sent on to support, is that for some files, <alt-E>-S-B works, but not using the mouse/menus.  Now that I know that, it's OK; I generally use short-cuts, anyway.  Once I figure them out.
