2009 licensing scheme
« on: December 18, 2008, 06:59:14 PM »
Apologies for bringing this up again, but my SlickEdit Maintenance is up for renewal and before signing up this time I just wanted to make sure the current licensing scheme with the local flexnet file was still going to work with SlickEdit 2009 whenever it's released.

Thank you much.

We are not planning any changes to the licensing mechanism or approach used in SlickEdit 2008, if that is what you're asking. However, each major version of SlickEdit requires a new license file. Customers on Maintenance and Support will be able to download SlickEdit 2009 and a new license file when the product is released.

Both license files can be stored on the same system, allowing you to run both versions of SlickEdit simultaneously. We do that routinely in our testing.

I hope that's what you wanted to hear. Thanks for asking. I'm sure others were curious too.
