It should work, but there are requirements that need to be met in order for Core to activate. For example, Core depends on the JDT...so if the thingee doesn't have that, you are going to need to install that plug-in, too. Also, you want to make sure you have the version of Core that is compatible with whatever version of Eclipse thingee is based on: Core 3.4 expects an Eclipse 3.4-based IDE.
The existing instructions for getting Core up and running should be adequate, provided the Help > Software Updates menu exists. If it's not there you are going to have to get the zip files for Core and manually extract them to the appropriate directory of thingee's installation.
There might be integration issues, if not everything is working together as well as you would like it...but it should work. Please let us know if anything is not working or if there are integration issues you would like to see fixed.
