'Total found' gives wrong number
« on: April 07, 2009, 02:06:12 pm »
I'm using SlickEdit Version 13.0.1.0 on XP pro SP2.

This is kind of puzzling. 'Total found' gives wrong number.

Find all ".+//.*counterpart", Ignore case, Regular expression (UNIX)
File C:\Documents and Settings\me\My Documents\My SlickEdit Config\macros_added\Counterpart.e
  126 1:   // Check the current directory for the counterpart.
  236 1:   // Check the current directory for the counterpart.
Total found: 6

Find all ".+//.*stab", Ignore case, Regular expression (UNIX)
File N:\Users\me\BLDII\..._output_module.cpp
  1452 1:   this->mux_fm...
  1454 1:   this->mux_fm...
  1597 1:   this->mux_fm...
  1598 1:   this->mux_fm...
Total found: 426

Anyone else see this?

If you have the option List matching lines only on in the Results options, then it will only list the line once in the Search Results, even if there are more than one possible matches on the same line.   Turn that option off and you will probably see that the expression does have multiple matches on a single line.  The Total Found logs the total possible matches found, not just matching lines.
