Indent with tabs always changing (SlickEdit 2009 v14.0.0.5 & .7)

Hi All,

As the title says it appears as if my "Indent with tabs" option under the documents menu keeps turning itself on and off.  Perhaps I don't understand how this option gets saved (or deosn't?) but if anyone can fill me in I would appreciate it.  I need to keep this option OFF for my code base.  Is this option supposed to be saved after I change it?  I am running SlickEdit 2009 v14.0.0.5.

I would suggest two things.  The first would be to turn off Adaptive Formatting for any languages you work in.  Under the Document menu there should be an Adaptive Formatting switch which I believe turns it on/off for the current extension.  You probably want it kept off.  The second thing would be that you should definitely upgrade to 14.0.0.7.

14.0.0.5 has an issue where adaptive formatting wasn't working right for tabs (couldn't find the forum post quickly, sorry).

14.0.0.7 fixed the issue with adaptive formatting and tabs.

Hi Guys,

I have upgraded to 14.0.0.7 and have noticed the following behavior.  It appears for now that disabling adaptive formatting AND disabling indent with tabs seems to stay off on a per file basis.  If I click on a tab with a different file indent with tabs is enabled again.

Also if I close the file I just changed to turn indent with tabs off, and re-open it, the option is enabled again.

If you are turning them off via the Document menu, then yes that's how it is intended to work.
If you want them to always be off, turn them off in the Tools|Options dialog, for the languages where you want them off.
