User Macro Upgrades
« on: May 27, 2010, 11:19:24 pm »
Some while back I posted a problem I have with user macros during upgrades - since I install SE to a new directory my user macros aren't copied from the old SE macro directory:

Macro migration

The suggestion give there was to put my macros in the config directory instead, so they get copied to the new install. A bit later I changed PC and in asking about the best migration route it was again suggested that the config directory (or a sub-folder thereof) was the place to put them:

Changing PC

So that's what I did. On the upgrade to SE 15 I now have a new 15.0.0 config directory and all my user macros are copied into to. Yay! But the bad news is that SE is still pointing at the macros in the old config directory. So I've gained nothing other than to have multiple unused copies of the macros...

Couldn't the SE install be a bit more intelligent about this?

I literally meant that I put them in the config directory, i.e. c:\slick\config (version independent).
I do not put them in the c:\slick\config\14.0.2 directory.

Ah! Sorry for misunderstanding.
