Installing on Windows Server 2008

Hello,
One of my VMs is running Win Server 2008.  Since I do much of my development on this VM, I install SlickEdit.
However, the SlickEdit install consistently hangs on the "Please wait while the installer finishes determining your disk space requirements" step.  I end up doing various incantations with runas and msiexec, until it finally installs.
It seems like no one has tested the Windows installer on Win Server 2008; could that be true?
I am logged in as an administrator when I launch the SlickEdit .msi.
There is probably a simple step that I am not aware of...

UPDATE:  So far, I haven't found the exact spell to cast to get the darn SE_15000102_win_full.msi to install.

I'll have to check and see whether we tested this on Windows Server 2008. We don't test on every variant of Windows and haven't had many issues with version-specific incompatibilities.

In the meantime, as a workaround, you can install SlickEdit on another Windows machine/instance and then copy the install directory to the desired location.

Are you running on x64 or x86? We have an instance we can test this on.

Our test installation on Windows Server 2008 ran just fine. It was also in a VM. It sounds like the check for disk space is taking a colossally long time to run. Are there a lot of network disk resources available to your instance?

The VM thinks there is ~27gb free disk space on C:.

Sorry, I was trying to ask whether you have network drives mounted. If so, how many and using what protocols. Are there any Samba shares attached? We're at the guessing stage of the game, and our first guess is that something about your storage is confusing the installer.

Can you run the install as follows and send me the log file generated:
msiexec /i <path_to_install_file> /l*vx! c:\temp\install.txt

Or use a different path at the end for the generated log file. Email that to swestfall@slickedit.com and we'll see if there is anything interesting going on in there.
