Save operation takes a very long time

Hi,
It takes me a very long time to save files that were modified in the SlickEdit editor - about a minute and a half. I'm using version 9.0.4 on Windows XP. Anyone has an idea how to solve this problem ?

Your question is a bit vague.  You seem to be saying that slick always takes a minute and a half to save your files.  Surely this varies according to the number of files being saved? 

How many files are you saving at a time? 
How many files do you have open? 
How long does it take to save just one file? 
How long does it take to save the same file using Notepad? 
Is a network drive involved at all?
How long does it take to open a file?
How long does it take to save when there are no modified files to save?

i reproduced with only one file open, and here are the answers to the questions :

How many files are you saving at a time?    1 file
How many files do you have open?    1 file
How long does it take to save just one file?  about a minute
How long does it take to save the same file using Notepad?  nothing
Is a network drive involved at all?  no
How long does it take to open a file? nothing
How long does it take to save when there are no modified files to save? nothing

I tried to reboot, reinstall and remove all the personal settings from my-documents. Nothing of these things helped.

Strange ... I never ever noticed a similar issue.
Do you have backups enabled ? (Tools->Options->File options -> Backup Tab)
If so check your backup setup (backup dir on network drive ?)
I'm not sure if v9.04 already supported 'backup history'. This feature may also take it's time on save.

I un-checked the 'Make Backup Files' check box, and the problem disappeared. There is no backup-directory specified, so I guess it defaulted to some network drive. Do you know what is the default directory ?
