Invoking tagging options?
« on: April 06, 2011, 06:52:46 PM »
Hi folks,

I currently have several large projects that get rebuilt on a regular basis - I currently have a perl script that goes through our clearcase config rec and pulls out the names of all the input source files and shoves them into an xml vpj file that slickedit appears to understand.  Once I open that file the tagging begins and at over 10k plus source files through a code repository, this takes time.  We are looking at automating this process even further, but I don't see an option to have VS just create a tag file based on the contents of a VPJ without manually starting up VS letting it run and then closing it.  I looked through the invocation options help, but nothing stood out at me.  Any ideas?

Thanks y'all -
Tim

<SE install dir>\win\vsmktags.exe is your friend. Using Linux there is a similar executable, of course.
It's provided for batched tagging w/o launching SE.
