Configuration file tagging
« on: July 20, 2011, 06:24:44 am »
Just imagine your C/C++ (or whatever) application using configuration files, e.g. INI or XML.
Sometime, maybe for analysis, you're going to search what a configuration parameter is set to. Don't you think it would be so useful just to have a CTRL+DOT over the string?

Is it already supported? Do you have ad-hoc macro? Or is it just impossible? (Just resurrection is impssible :) )

Well, there is some support for this.  You can jump to an XML "id" attribute.  We also tag the section divisions in Windows style INI files (open [slickedit]/format.ini to see an example).

If you attempt to do references on a word, and the files you are searching through are part of your tag file, you will be able to get references to that word.  This might help you find a needle in a haystack pretty quickly too.

And, of course, you can always use multi-file search.
