Can a paste replace a selection?
« on: November 30, 2006, 09:49:13 AM »
Can I set up SE so that when I paste data on a marked block the block is replaced by the pasted data?
AFAIK I have to delete the block first and then paste. Insert or overtype mode dosen't seem to make a difference.

There's an option for that in General Options -> Select Styles tab - "Delete selection before insert" - and a few other related options there too.

Graeme,
Thanks for the pointer. Its there all right, but greyed - can't change it. I'm using Brief emulation and it can't be changed, not that changing to CUA helps it is still greyed as is the "user defined" radio button. Time to do another dig in the docs I guess.

I'm also using Brief mode but w/ a few customizations:

Try this on cmdline:
Code: [Select]
set-var def_persistent_select D
