Auto-folder lockup
« on: August 12, 2011, 01:53:09 am »
Hi,

Using

SlickEdit 2011 (v16.0.1.0 64-bit)
Config\16.0.1\hotfixes\hotfix_se1601_3_cumulative.zip (Revision: 3)

When I create a new project, then auto-folder->directory view, SE locks up completely.   Only way to recover is to kill it.  However, if I remove all files in the project, then select directory view, then add the files, it works fine.  It appears to be related to the number of files.  In "small" projects (10-100 files), I don't see this, but most of my projects are large (28K+ files).  These projects are consistently consistenly lock up when I change the auto-directory. Is this a known issue?

thanks

Is this a SlickEdit workspace/project (.vpw/.vpw) file, or are you loading a other vendor workspace or solution file?  If it is a SlickEdit project file, are the files added to the project by wildcard or all included the project file?  It would help to see how the project tree is organized, if I could see the .vpj project file or even the tag file (.vtg).  We haven't had any reports of this type of lockup, but any info you can provide will help us solve the issue.

I'm creating a new project.  So what I do:

Create a new project (Other or C++)

Project->add->files

Then Add Tree, I have my "file-types" filter set to this

*.c;*.cc;*.cpp;*.cp;*.cxx;*.c++;*.h;*.hh;*.hpp;*.hxx;*.inl;*.xpm;*.builds;*.s;*.cif;*.pl;*.cmd;*.bat;*.mak;*.min;SCons*;*.cfg;*.s;*.scl

About 25K files get added, I select ok.  Then right-click on the project, select auto-folder, directory view.    Then wait.  Forever :)

I'm at an airport now, I'll upload screen shots to support later, project is attached.   It's a hierarchical directory structure

I can confirm exactly what you are seeing.   This is fixed in the next point release which will be released sometime "real soon now".

Amazing what we can do from airports nowadays.

Great, thanks Lee.

Being delayed at the airport sometimes is worthwhile ;)  Though I often wonder if being this connected is a good thing or not!
