Every time SE has to create a new config, either from an old one, or brand new, I modify the tab bar properties to make it look more like the Firefox Tab bar. Specifically, I (After failing to remember the command and searching the forum for the correct command line) enter "open-form _tbbufftabs_form" on the SE command line (not as an invocation option). Then I select the tab, as the default selection is something else. Then in the properties window, I toggle the Grabbar value to FALSE, and the Orientation to SSTAB_OTOP. After saving and closing the form editor, nothing happens. So I drag and drop the bar from the bottom of the editor window to the top, below the other toolbars, and the changes I've made then show up. If SE has copied the config from a previous version (v15 -> v16, for example), it will remember the new position, but not the changed properties.
Since this appears to be a data-only change, not code, could SE please copy these settings from the old profile to the new one? Is it supposed to do so and failing? Or is this "by design"?
