RSS full text feeds?
« on: December 08, 2006, 11:08:04 pm »
Is there a way to get full text RSS feeds from this web site? I am using google reader and I find it annoying having to click on the message title and go to another tab just to see the full text of a message. It would be nice if I only had to do that if I wanted to post a reply to a message.

The rss feed was configured to return the first 255 characters of a new post.  I've upped the value to the first 1024 characters of a post.  This should allow you to get more posts without needing to click through.

Thanks Jeffrey. That helps. Wouldn't it be fairly trivial to just add a url parameter to allow you to select "full" when retrieving the feed? Then those who only want to see a truncated entry can do so and those that want the full enchilada can munch to their hearts content. I haven't messed with the provider side of rss feeds so please excuse me if I am missing something obvious.

It probably would be trivial, but to keep the forum administration manageable, we're using an open source forum package.  So if I was to code a custom one off, the next forum upgrade would probably overwrite that customization.

I'll suggest it to the forum developers, so you might see it in the future.
