I use SlickEdit 6c.  Why?  I live on microscopic income and have not been able to afford the upgrade.  Surprisingly it still work on Windows 7 64 bit, though HELP has died.  It is blinding fast.

I noticed in my F:\vslick directory the following three files:
      2,405,256  $slk.0
  1,057,530,348  $slk.1
    119,655,648  $slk.2

They are unusually fat.  I wondered if it safe to delete them and what they are.

They are SlickEdit spill files. As long as you have exited the editor, or they have really old dates, you can safely delete them.

On a side note, you mentioned that Help has died.  Do you mean v6 used a .HLP file which is no longer supported in Windows?  If so, did you know about the downloadable update from Microsoft that adds back support for .HLP files?

(The reason they aren't supported by default anymore is due to security risks, since the .HLP format basically allows an author to write programs in the help file -- .CHM is safer and also more functional, but sometimes we really do need .HLP support still).
