2012 auto-complete keys
« on: June 12, 2012, 02:40:50 pm »
I've touched on this issue in a post to the beta forum on auto-complete, but have another question about auto-complete. In VS16, as I'm typing something and get the auto-complete list pop-up, once I've typed enough to narrow things down to just one option (or have used arrow keys to select the right value), it seems pressing any non-word character (or at least the characters I'd normally type after some var/member name) completes the input and inputs that character. For example, typing "abcPtr->xyz" and having selected the completion for "xyz", typing '(' or '.' or '-' completes the name and inputs the character.

In VS17, often the only way to get completion is to press Tab or Enter or space, which is just a wasted, extra key compared to VS16. Was this an intentional change? Can we get the VS16 behavior back in VS17?

I'm running on Windows 7 x64 with the 64-bit version of SlickEdit 2012.
