V17.0.1, Win7-64, Debugger Two Autos/Locals Display Issues
« on: July 21, 2012, 03:10:35 pm »
Debugging perl.  Two auto/local variable display issues In V17.0.1. V16 behaves as I would expect.
1) In V16, the variables are initially displayed in black, and change to red as their values change when stepping through the program.  In V17, the variables are always red.
2) In V17, variables are added to the list multiple times, each time I toggle the default/hex display mode.  In the attached flash clip you can see the list growing and growing each time the display mode toggles.

Hi,

I can't watch the video but I've logged something similar for C++ support case CAS-58753-CJDL.

Cheers,

I'll look into this one, should be simple to fix.

I'm still seeing multiple copies of variables in the very latest SE version when debugging perl projects.  Is this still being investigated?

I am putting in a hot fix as a workaround for the issue with Perl debugging.
The underlying bug will be fixed in the next release.
Thanks for reporting this one.  It was a tricky case that needed attention, but would have otherwise gone unnoticed.

Thanks Dennis.
Is there an ETA for the next release? This bug can be pretty annoying :)

After applying hotfix_se1702_13_cumulative.zip (perl project) the Autos tab looks OK, but in Locals I still see many copies of the variables being added with each single-step and with each toggling of the default/hex display mode.

In my testing, I only saw the duplicate items in the Autos tool window, specifically with Perl debugging, but I will put the same workaround in for Locals, Members, and Watches.
