Can new files be auto added to projects?
« on: January 11, 2013, 07:12:15 am »
I have been using a very old version of slick edit and just upgrade to the latest one.

I create a workspace with slick edit and in the 'project properties', I add files using the 'add tree' option, and specify a directory. Over time in our development process we create new files in that directory. Is there a way that slick edit can automatically pick up those files, rather than me having to go back to the project properties and add those file manually.

how about editing your project file e.g. "project.vpj" to have the files element like shown below
Code: [Select]
<Files>
<F
N="pathtoyourprojectdir/*.*"
Recurse="1"
Refilter="0"
Excludes="*.gz;*/.osc/;*.git/;"/>
</Files>

each time you open the project or refresh what ever gets added then it should appear. hope this helps.

In the Add Tree dialog there is a "Add as Wildcard" checkbox at the bottom. It will create the same wildcard/recurse syntax options that ehab shows in the project code snippet.

Yes, this is great to find out!

However, when I create the project like this, then in the "Project" toolbar, I see a directory hierarchy of files, when I would just like a flat listing of just the filenames that I would get when I manually added all files.

Is there any way to do that?

Thanks,
Rob

You can configure your own (flat) Custom view in the Projects toolbar.
Delete the default filters and setup e.g. an 'All' folder with the appropriate filter ('r-click context menu > Auto Folder > Custom').
