Create desktop icon for SE on Ubuntu
« on: April 15, 2013, 08:38:41 am »
I've lost my SE icon on my Ubuntu desktop.  I don't see an obvious way to recreate the icon (I'm more of a Windows user, so probably a bit dim as far as customizing Ubuntu goes).  Could someone point me to simple directions on how to create a desktop icon?

Ubuntu 11.10 32-bit, if it matters.

Thanks.

Thanks.

There's a C++ code function that is exported to Slick-C as _X11CreateDesktopShortcut(). We call this function whenever you do a configuration migration or create a new config.
Loading and running this macro should do the trick.
Code: [Select]
#include "slick.sh"
_command recreate_shortcut() name_info(',')
{
    _macro('R',1);
    _X11CreateDesktopShortcut();
}

Thanks - I'll try that out tonight.

A friend of mine suggested the general workaround of dragging something off the Application menu to the desktop to create an icon there, then editing it to launch slickedit and have slickedit's icon.  That worked great and was obvious once it was pointed out to me.  I guess I was just looking too hard for a "create shortcut here" type of thing.
