B5: Java Live Errors changes left margin
« on: May 30, 2013, 02:19:36 pm »
Steps to repeat
1) Set left margin to something noticably large. I used 0.2
2) Load the java.vpw from the SampleProjects folder
3) Enable Java Live errors and wait a few seconds

Tested normally and with a blank config

As soon as you have any bitmap displayed in the left margin, SlickEdit adjusts the margin size on it's own.  It's just the way it works right now :-\.  If you select that option in the Options tree, you can see this note:

Quote
Specifies the amount of space, in inches, between the left edge of the window and the editor text. This option has no effect when there are bitmaps displayed in the left margin, since more space may be necessary to accommodate the size of the bitmap.

Ok if I change the margin to 0.11 then it stays static, it's the jumping about that's irritating

I thought that was new, sorry  :)

I think if you don't want to see it jumping in size you will want to set it to the default value of .15.  Thanks for checking out the beta :).
