Upgrade from v9 to v18 vpj/vpw issue

Hi there,

After (almost) 10 years of daily working with v9, we are thinking about an upgrade to the recent version.
However, the upgrade will have to be gradual, so some people will have to work on the older version while some are on the latter.
The upgrade changes the many vpj/vpw we have and the older version is unable to open it.
Is there a way to use an old vpj/vpw without changing it in v18?  It seems to me the changes are not significant for the project and workspace to work correctly.

If you don't need the V18 users to change the vpj/vpw files, why can't the V18 users work with a copy of the vpj/vpw files?  Are the project source files accessed through relative paths in the vpj files?
