Unable to save.
« on: February 06, 2014, 06:33:45 PM »
I often (not always) see the following error message:

   Unable to save <path><file>
   Access denied

   Possible causes:

Backup directory could not be created.
Another program has this file open.

   See help on "Backup options".

If I check the backup directory I can see that the file was backed up as expected. No program of mine is accessing the file.

Sometimes the file saves anyway. Other times I can re-save successfully. Other times I can hide the buffer behind another buffer and "save all" and it saves. Sometimes none of these work-arounds help.

Is there any way I can get more information regarding what might be causing this error for me?

Thank you,

DaveF

I don't know if this will help, but I commonly see similar errors in various tools after I set up a new machine, until I remember to configure anti-virus software to exclude my source code directories.
