SlickEdit® / SlickEdit CMake project generators for CMake 3.20.5
« Last post by patrick on June 30, 2021, 05:32:51 pm »
The SlickEdit CMake project support has been updated for CMake 3.20.5.  This support allows you to generate SlickEdit projects from a CMake file in addition to artifacts for NMake,  Ninja or platform flavors of make.

SlickEdit targets for all platforms: "SlickEdit - Unix Makefiles", "SlickEdit - Ninja"

Windows has the additional targets: "SlickEdit - MinGW Makefiles", "SlickEdit - NMake Makefiles"

Pre-built binaries:
The full source is here:
And attached is a patch that applies on CMake 3.20.5.

SlickEdit® / Re: is the plugin mechanism useable in 25.0.2

I've tried fiddling with the definit and on-load-module code to see if I can see what is the difference between a manual load and a restart - but I got nowhere.  If I comment out some of the code, a manual load still makes the bitmaps work.  I did notice that after a manual load, on the next restart, the bitmaps work but not on the restart after that.

I've found another way to get the bitmaps working is to disable xretrace (using the config dialog), then restart xretrace by running the xretrace-cursor-steps command.  - it calls init-xretrace.  So it seems that init-xretrace works sometimes and sometimes not.  I  don't normally have bitmaps showing so I can't really tell whether this problem is because it's a plugin or because it sometimes happens anyway.  In my "normal" 25.0.2 config the bitmaps always appear so far.

I don't think there's anything I can add without trying it out on XFCE and see what's going on.  Off the top of my head, I'm not sure why we'd request a raise for focus-in.   I'll put that next on my list.

SlickEdit® / Re: Raspberry Pi Pico Environment

As an update, I'm in the process of building the updated CMake 3.20.5 so the forum page can be updated.  I've checked the pico-sdk and pico-examples projects with Linux version, and it generates proper projects for those, and I can build the resulting Makefiles.  No pico to test the results on, so that's as far as I can verify that.

Ok, I do see this with the plugin you posted, with a clean config.  I'll quit SlickEdit, restart, and I don't see the bitmaps in the gutter.  Showing the xretrace options shows everything I selected is still selected.  Loading the module makes the bitmaps appear for that session, till I quit again.  And I get the say() output, so I know the init function is being called.

I'll see if I can trace why this is happening.

Just for grins, I fired up QT4's qdevelop.  It tells me it is running QT4.  It behaves properly, i.e., when I mouse over it, it does not autoraise itself and I can still type into it without it being the topmost window (focus follows mouse works correctly). If I click in it, it raises.  Just like it should.

I have several QT4 applications that do not act this way (I have Qt 2, 3, 4 and 5 on here and apps in all of them) so I don't believe it is inherent in QT to do this.  As I said before, autoraising should be a function of the window manager, not the apps.  What was VS19 written in?  It doesn't autoraise.

Sorry, I should have read your post more closely.  I believe it is the "focus follows mouse" causing this.  Patrick will probably want to chime in at this point, I'm not sure there is a way around this because Qt4 treats the focus in event much like an application activate event.
