SlickEdit 2021 v26 Beta Discussion / Re: add_multiple_cursor_xxx only works once
« Last post by jcelle on September 27, 2021, 07:18:13 pm »
Hello and thanks for your time helping me.
Found something interesting: I had copied your mouse.e under original se macro directory (program files) and had deleted mouse.ex first before doing the Load Macro: the mouse.ex was not created !

So tried to Load Macro your mouse.e directly from my d:/downloads directory and this time the mouse.ex got created.
Then magically C-S-up/down creates additional cursors as expected.
Esc still does not clear them but clicking (left click) anywhere does.
And I can still repeat the C-S-up/down again and again.

In keyboard shortcuts settings my Esc key is bound to nothing (is this normal ?).

I don't understand the fix but I like it  ;D
SlickEdit 2021 v26 Beta Discussion / ColorProfile: Misc
« Last post by jporkkahtc on September 27, 2021, 07:01:32 pm »
When in Tools > Options > Appearance > Colors, clicking different places in editor windows changes which color is selected.

#1: This doesn't work for the "--- Top of File ---" line. Doesn't work for the highlights in the left gutter.

#2: "Line prefix area" textbox shows "...right margin...". But this appears to be the colors for line numbers on the LEFT side of the editor.

#3: It would be nice if the list of colors could be filtered.
a: By a text box (user types text)
b: By language: Only show colors that apply to the selected language.
c: Maybe also show a 3rd column that shows which colors are just for a 1(or few) specific langauges?
Not sure, but this list is getting *really* long.

#4: The Sample Code area could show more UI elements.
Right side gutter.
Document tabs.
SlickEdit 2021 v26 Beta Discussion / Color Profile: Minimap settings
« Last post by jporkkahtc on September 27, 2021, 06:01:39 pm »
When I set the Minimap default color profile to Blank, it changes to match the editor color profile (and the text is a bit dimmed).

Now, as I make changes to the color profile, minimap changes to match.
Hit OK.

Open options again.
Minimap profile text is not dimmed anymore.
It also doesn't follow the Editor profile settings anymore.
Seems like it ought to.
SlickEdit 2021 v26 Beta Discussion / Color profiles: Light: Black
« Last post by jporkkahtc on September 27, 2021, 05:58:46 pm »
See the attached.
I started playing a little with colors this morning.
When I started slick, my color profile was set to "Light: Black".
Seems like an odd profile name.

I changed it to "Dark: Chalkboard", hit OK.
Go back into Options:colors, and I no longer have a "Light: Black" profile.
I do now have "Dark: Black" profile.
SlickEdit 2021 v26 Beta Discussion / What does this mean?
« Last post by jporkkahtc on September 27, 2021, 05:55:25 pm »
So, I made some color changes I didn't mean to.
I clicked on "Reset defaults", and get this dialog (attached).

What gets reset if I do not check the box?
What gets reset if I do check the box?

Does this reset the colors in the Black profile?
What is "Original" vs "Slickedit Default"?

All I wanted was to fix the color changes I made.

OIC, there is "Reset Profile".
SlickEdit® / Find Files count incorrect
« Last post by joecar on September 27, 2021, 05:47:38 pm »
SlickEdit Pro 2021 (v26.0.0.3 64-bit Qt5)

I did Search->Find File, I specified Look In <Workspace> and File Types "" and the search results tab shows the file location, but the Total Found count is zero.

Code: [Select]
Find files Match files, "<Workspace>", ""
File C:\Users\Joe\Workspace\xxxx.git\zzz\python\
Total found: 0     Matching files: 0     Total files searched: 1

( Am even I using Find Files properly? It seems to locate the file I was looking for. )

Still looking into the slow completion for "force".   It is related to subword matching.  As a workaround you can go to the Options dialog, Languages -> Application Languages -> C/C++ -> Auto Complete, look under the "Subword matching options" group on the bottom right, and check "First attempt uses prefix match only", and uncheck the bottom entry "Find completions which fix minor typos".  And then that completion will be near instantaneous.

Reproduced. Needed a different test case. I should have had you post a test file.

Added a hot fix for this. Will go in next hot fix build.
Fixed for beta 4.  I'll look at the single autocomplete performance from the 3rd video later today.
I didn't see that one, but I've watched it now.  I'll treat that separately, I'm far enough along with the fast typing one where it really looks like there's an interaction between the event handling for dynamic surround and autocomplete, where with dynamic surround enabled, you get > 1 order of magnitude more calls to the tagging functions.   So a faster autocomplete for a single Ctrl-Space would be good, but wouldn't put as much of a dent in the fast typing problem as you'd hope.

So you might have a harder time getting the fast typing problem to happen with Dynamic Surround off, or with if statements at the end of a block where dynamic surround won't be activated.
