alt-5 (= '['), alt-6 (= ']'), alt-7 (= '|') cannot be entered using my Macbook Air keyboard or using the "System Keyboard Viewer". These keystrokes appear to be ignored.
alt-8 (= '{'), and alt-9 (= '}') however work as expected.
Keyboard setting: "Mac Option/Alt key behavior" = Default MAC IME
Thanks,

This will be fixed in the next beta.
It turns out that the keys that aren't working have key bindings (Alt+8 and Alt+9 don't have bindings). If you unbind these keys, they will insert the characters you want.

I should have thought of that change myself - thanks!
Works fine now.
