One of my user installed SlickEdit 2010 (single user license) from a shared drive that contains the software install and license file. During the install he was prompted for license file location and he mapped to share drive containing the license file. Since the license file was on shared drive will that cause any problem if he disconnect or takes his laptop with him home? not sure if the license file will get copied over to C drive.
Thanks,
B

We copy the file to a known location on the machine. On windows, it's down under AppData on Windows XP or ProgramData on Windows 7.

I should have said that you can use Help > About SlickEdit to determine the location of the license file that SlickEdit is using. It's towards the top of the screen. See the attached screen shot.

How do you go about changing the license file location?

You can't. We only look in two places:
1) the place we copy it to when you use the license manager to install a license
2) the win or bin subdirectory of your SlickEdit installation.
The first one is used by the majority of users and we've not had any problems reports for that. The second location is to allow people to have a portable install of SlickEdit, like on a flash drive, that they use on multiple computers.
The first location should work with the scenario you originally described. What problem are you experiencing?
