Title: SE crashes on 'New Updates' behind corporate proxy server
Post by: DavidA on October 06, 2015, 08:35:10 AM
Hi

This bug applies to SlickEdit Pro 2015 (v20.0.0.4 64-bit) on Windows 8.1 64-bit.

I work behind a corporate proxy server. I have set the proxy server details correctly in Product Updates > Options.

When I invoke Product Updates > New Updates, SlickEdit crashes (Windows reports that SE has stopped working).

This is the same bug as I reported in:

https://community.slickedit.com/index.php/topic,11002.msg46468.html#msg46468

I had hoped that it would be fixed by now.  :(

Best regards

David

Thanks for the report.  This should be fixed for next beta release.

I've installed Beta 3 and product updates (behind a proxy server) are still not working for me  :(

The proxy is set correctly in Help > Product updates > Options

but:

Help > Product updates > New updates

gives:

---------------------------
SlickEdit Pro
---------------------------
Error retrieving updates.

MANIFEST: URL status condition -
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

However, SE no longer crashes.

New Updates is still failing in SlickEdit 2015 v20 release candidate 4:

Quote
---------------------------
SlickEdit Pro
---------------------------
Error retrieving updates.

MANIFEST: URL status condition -
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

Any chance of a fix please?

It's unlikely we will be able to fix this. Sorry

It seems a pity to admit defeat on this issue.  I use several other editors and IDE's and they cope happily with a proxy server.  Is it really so difficult to fix?
