SlickEdit® / Re: Tab key not working

Try going to Document > [lang] Options... > Editing.  There are several settings for how the tab key is handled there.

SlickEdit® / Tab key not working
« Last post by brett.sterling@wdc.com on May 04, 2021, 09:07:04 pm »
When I press the tab key to insert spaces/tab into a file, nothing happens.  If I type spaces, this works.  I can not find the setting which changes this behavior.

I can reproduce the problem with Alt-Shift-N, we'll take a look and see what's going on.

There isn't a way to move the status line, but you can use say('some message') in place of message/messageNwait, and the output will go to a separate debug window you can scroll through.

SlickEdit® / Here documents
« Last post by jporkkahtc on May 04, 2021, 05:35:42 pm »
In Powershell the termination of a here string, @", must be at the start of a line.
Slickedit colors it even if it isn't at the start of a line.

Bash scripts get colored correctly in this case.

Also, I found that in
Tools > Options > Languages > Scripting Languages > Bourne Shell > Color Coding
The "Here document" check box is not checked.
I didn't find any languages where it is checked.
Does it do anything?

Powershell here strings are colored due to Tokens rules, but Shell scripts seem to do it some other mysterious way.

SlickEdit® / find-next and Incremental Search
« Last post by jporkkahtc on May 04, 2021, 05:13:19 pm »
Using big-find, I find "a", Color=String, Incremental=true
Then find-next finds with no colors.

Find again, clear incremental and find-next now finds with color.

Find once again, set incremental and find-next now finds with color.

It seems if Incremental is checked, find-next doesn't update the color setting. Somehow the color setting for find-next is sticky to the last search without incremental.

Note: I didn't intentionally do incremental search - it was set accidentally and I was then having trouble with find-next.

SlickEdit® / Re: selective display regions + defs view

The bookmarks solution coupled with a custom selective display to fold regions makes for a pretty good solution but for the noisiness of the bookmarks window. Any chance an upcoming update could include support for hiding columns in the bookmark window and showing just the matching text in the "Text" column?

Thanks,
Iker

Do you have auto-save enabled?

Try...

1) Open the zip file in an explorer window.  This should show "Extract" under "Compressed Folder Tools".
2) Double click the source file to load it into SE.
3) Close the Explorer window.
4) Abject misery...

That worked, thx.
BTW, there was no "assistant" directory. And there still isn't after I restarted.  I'm curious.  Our company changed our local login user to a managed network login.  I don't really understand it.  My userid was once a shortname.  Then FirstLast after a reinstall.  Now?? %USERNAME% is now a numeric value.  Yet it seems c:\users\FirstLast is still used for app data.  Could that confuse the installer?

Try this.

--Exit SlickEdit.

--Rename this folder:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\assistant\
to
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\assistant.OLD\

and rename this one as well:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\SlickEdit**.*.*.

--Restart SlickEdit.
