Delete the Qt assistant cache

I'm guessing your on windows

c:\Users\<user-name>\AppData\Local\SlickEditHelp\29.0.1.0   <- 29.0.2 uses 29.0.1 help because there were no changes
How do I "Delete the Qt assistant cache"...?

How do I open that...?

Not sure where my reply on Friday ended up, but in the original question I said deleting the "vrestore" files had no effect.

Deleting the history files and rebooting had no effect.

Deleting all the slickedit project and workspace files and recreating them had no effect.

I found that I could manually edit the newly created history files and copying the values in the <monitor_configs> section from a working workspace into the broken one allowed the dialog to appear onscreen although I don't know what the meaning of the individual entries in those sections are.

I also don't understand how they get recreated with invalid values.

SlickEdit Pro 2024 (v29.0.2.0 64-bit Qt5)
hotfix_se2902_1

The help gui does not show any contents or topics, and searching says "Your search did not match any documents".

SlickEdit® / v29.0.2 : different completion behavior when I enter "if("
« Last post by jcelle on May 19, 2025, 02:27:10 PM »
Hello, I just switched to version 29.0.2.
I am noticing a different behavior in PHP mode when I enter "if(" at the beginning of a non empty line.
In version 26.0.3, entering "if(" just enters "if(" unless I am on a blank line, in which case it enters the closing parenthesis automatically "if()".
That seems perfect: no closing parenthesis if there is text on the right of the cursor, automatic insertion of closing parenthesis otherwise.

In version 29.0.2, I always get a closing parenthesis which I always have to remove when typing "if(" at the beginning of a non blank line.
Besides in version 29.0.2 I get surrounding rectangle drawn which I don't understand. I am quite sure there might be some clever feature I could use here but I can't understand what.
I went through all the configuration screens but could not spot what to update.
Does anyone knows how to disable the 29.0.2 closing parenthesis and surrounding rectangle ?
Thanks in advance.
I'll try to attach some screenshots.
(apparently we can no longer attach images...)

Try restarting your machine.

If that doesn't fix it exit SlickEdit and remove vrestore.xml and vrestore.slk (if they exist). Also delete all your .vpwhistxml and .vpwhist files.
