Title: "Delete" button grayed out
Post by: achen on August 19, 2009, 07:00:26 PM
Can someone please tell me why the "delete" button has been grayed out for a specific project? My other projects don't have anything in Tools window.

Don't know the answer but if you look in the project vpj file you might see an xml attribute like this
Deletable="0"

Is the project different to the others e.g. is it a different type of project?  The help for the tools tab says you can delete a user defined tool but not a default tool.

Graeme,

Thanks for the reply.

All my projects are C/C++ type. Right now I only have two workspaces and each workspace contains about 3 - 4 projects. The information I provided in the first post is a bit misleading. In fact, all my projects, except one particular, have this delete button grayed out. The one that has this button available doesn't have anything in the Tools tab and it is also the very first project I migrated from CodeWright. I guess I must have done something different then...just can't recall what I did.  :(

Best Regards,

Alan

All of the stock "tool names" are flagged as not deletable. If you add a tool name to the list, you will be able to delete it. But the ones added by SlickEdit cannot be deleted without changing the attribute, as mentioned in a previous post.

I don't have time to play "go ask Mr. Owl" right now, so I can't tell you why it is like that. I'm sure it cuts down on worries about people deleting things we might need to have in a particular project type.

My recommendation is to add the tool names you need and move those to the top of the list.

Scott,
Thanks for the reply. As long as the disabling is one of those things that SE always does, I am okay with that. I just want to make sure I didn't screw up anything. SE also offers the option to "Never show on menu". That's very nice. Thanks.

Best Regards,

Alan
