Title: Save configuration when leaving configuration dialog
Post by: asandler on January 06, 2011, 09:35:49 AM
Save configuration when leaving configuration dialog and not when closing SE.

I am often leaving SE running for many days without closing it. Eventually, quiet often, it crashes from one reason or another. This is not a real problem because, I guess, it was never designed to run for two weeks straight. The problem is that all configuration modifications that I do during these two weeks get lost because I didn't close SE properly. So it would be nice if SE would save configuration immediately and not wait until it being shut down.

There's an option for that already  -  options -> application options -> Exit -> save configuration  - set to "save configuration immediately".

And there is a 'gui-save-config' command to manually save the current configuration.
Useful e.g. when directly changing 'def-' vars.

Oh, thanks for telling me. I wish I knew this before. Could save me lots of pointless reconfigurations.
