Email support for about this. Attach your user.cfg.xml. This is probably not due to the mouse-fix installer for 30.0.1.

I should note, I hit https://community.slickedit.com/index.php/topic,19665.0.html as well and had to use the mouse-fix version of 30.0.1

SlickEdit® / Command ext-keys not found while editing .md file
« Last post by TKasparek on April 10, 2026, 07:45:20 PM »
Looks like an old bug is back again:
https://community.slickedit.com/index.php/topic,13881.msg54454.html#msg54454
https://community.slickedit.com/index.php/topic,18173.msg71586.html#msg71586

I hit this issue with v30.0.0 Hotfix 2 this morning. I tried updating to v30.0.1 Hotfix 5 QT5 on Ubuntu 24.04 just now and same issue.
I hit the space key and get the "Command ext-keys not found" and the blank space is not added to the .md document. Regular c++ code works fine.

Features and/or Improvements / File Tabs
« Last post by Paul Waudby on April 10, 2026, 12:59:36 PM »
I've used Brief since 1987 and then Slick edit since version 1 (1997?). My favourite feature is the windows and the ability to open and navigate with F1 - F4 (from Brief). Awesome facility and I couldn't do without it. I just upgraded from the 2012 version to your most recent 2025 version. The 2012 release was showing signs of strain and the multiple window handling was increasingly erratic. So I bit the bullet and upgraded.

Sadly, it looks like you've completely messed up the multiple window and tab mechanisms since 2012.

1) 2012 allowed multiple 'windows' to be open simultaneously with one set of file tabs. So, I can be in any window and click on a file tab to switch the window to that file. The latest version has one set of file tabs per window and they don't transfer to a new window created with F3.
2) The file tabs used to list every file I had loaded and I could use this to switch windows easily instead of hitting alt-B all the time
3) The file tabs are at the top and there's no way to move it to the bottom (which I prefer).

You used to advertise that Visual Slick Edit was the most configurable editor in the world (and back in 2012, it probably was). Now I can't even configure it to look and behave like itself.

Please allow me to configure the interface to behave like the 2012 version

SlickEdit® / Re: Installing Slickedit on a new machine and moving the license

Install SlickEdit on the new machine. When it prompts for the license file, enter it there.

Named user licenses can be installed on multiple machines you own as long as you are the only person using SlickEdit on those machines.

SlickEdit® / Installing Slickedit on a new machine and moving the license
« Last post by Marc Hertzberg on April 08, 2026, 06:03:24 PM »
Hi. I emailed support with this question but the email bounced.
I have an extremely old version of Slickedit I'd like to move to a new machine. I have the installer and the license file.
Can someone briefly describe the procedure please? Does the license have to be removed / deactivated on the old machine?
Thanks in advance.

We have a fix for this.

Download se_30000100_linux64qt5-mouptr-fix.tar.gz
From this dropbox folder:

Thanks for posting about this issue.
Qt5 has the ability to use some OS theme mouse pointers. We just tweaked the build to make sure this feature was turned on.

Nice. Thank you. Again, unexpectedly quick response. I am truly impressed.

I just sent the files to support@slickedit.com.

Yes, the forum seems a bit unstable at the moment. I receive 503 errors when logging in and need to refresh the page, often several times, to enter. Once in, all seems fine except for not being able to attach files.

I look forward to receiving the resolution.

Thank you.

We're looking into this. Qt5 was rebuilt for v30.0.1 to fix a significant unicode font support problem but we didn't intend to make any changes to the mouse pointer sizes. Hopefullly, we can figure why this build is different and change it to be like the older Qt5 build.
