Title: RC5: License expired
Post by: shadm on November 05, 2015, 10:54:19 PM
The license for the RC5 (and it appears all the beta/RC releases) appears to have expired today and I can no longer use it.

I'm surprised there hasn't been a reply to this. It seems like the SlickEdit team would like to keep the pre-release testing to continue. You guys should either extend the license or make an official release.

I ran into that, so I went to registered products, selected my free upgrade, and downloaded a new license file. It's what I'd have to do for the final release in any event.

I had just re-downloaded the beta license and it was already expired. Thanks for letting us know about the upgrade link Jim! I downloaded it and am happily running v20.0.0.12.

Did you download the license for the Beta or for Slickedit Pro 2015?  The Beta license is expired. The Pro 2015 should not be (and wasn't for me.)

I was just explaining why I'd had the problem. It is currently working great for me and is not a beta license. It isn't expired.

Ah - understood.   ;D

It's weird that they have apparently made a final release and haven't announced it. If it were me, I'd be so happy I'd be telling everyone.

We are happy ;D We will post the announcement soon (later today).

Sorry about the beta license expiring sooner than it has in the past. We have to take a bit of a stab in the dark as to when it should expire. We gave it an extra two weeks than we thought we'd need but ah.....we used them ;D

Thanks to everyone, for all your help with beta testing!

Thank you Clark! You guys have obviously been working really hard on this. I think I speak for most of the people here when I say we really appreciate it!

SlickEdit is the only tool I have a personal maintenance contract on. It's also the only tool that I make sure I have access to when I take a new position. I've been using it for about 10 years now and you guys haven't let me down yet. Keep up the good work and congratulations on getting another release out!

I echo Tim's remarks.  I have several licenses I that take with me from job to job that I gladly keep maintenance on and appreciate the work put into the product.

I'll echo Tim's remarks as well. I've been using SE since 1998 when it was repackaged with a bunch of slick C add-ons for VHDL language support in a product called "Esprimo". I've been using it happily ever since.
