More control in general over the columns of file tool windows would be useful in other situations as well. For instance, when the Projects tool window is set to "Directory View" mode the file path column only get in the way - it'd be nice to hide it altogether (first requested here).

In my current workspace I have some files with some fairly long paths. For my purposes, I care far more about the end of the Path string rather than the start. If I need to see the end of the Path string currently, I need to expand the Files tool window, which takes up too much of my screen real estate.




I'd find it very useful if there was an option to truncate the left side of the path so the end of the path is always shown:
