Title: RC2: Search does not remember last manually entered search term
Post by: davehohl on September 29, 2017, 10:48:23 PM
If the cursor is on a word in an edit window and I do CTL+F to start a search, SE automatically populates the search term field with the word the cursor is on. If I then click on a blank line and do CTL+F again, SE remembers the last term searched for. This is great.

But if I manually enter something in the search term field, click on a blank line and do CTL+F again, SE populates the search term field not with what I last entered manually, but with the last term that the cursor had been on. The manually entered term does appear in the pull-down list, but for some reason SE decides not to use it as the default.

Update: My "Initialize search string" option is set to "Word at cursor". So perhaps this is working as designed. But I would have expected that if there was no word at the cursor, it would use the last search term, not the last word the cursor was at.
