Title: Problems Running slickedit (windows) under Boot Camp
Post by: kilen on September 05, 2007, 04:18:29 PM
Hi!

I'm running Windows Vista OS on a mac book pro (using apple's boot camp).

All applications I've tried so far works just fine, except most unfortunately
SlickEdit (v11.0.2).

The problem is that no keyboard shortcuts using
<ctrl>+<shift>+[A-Z] works. These specific sequence of
keys isn't recognized by SlickEdit, not even in the monitor
found in the key-bindings dialog.

Any other <ctrl>+<shift> combination e.g. numeric, functions-keys etc, etc,
works just fine.

This is of course probably a (apple) keyboard driver problem, but since
similar shortcuts works fine in other apps. It makes me wonder
how SlickEdit capture key presses under windows?

I also should mention that I'm using a Swedish keyboard layout.

Any input or tip for workarounds are most welcome since I really want to
continue to use all those shortcuts that through the years
has become a part of "editing-really-fast-without-even-thinking-about-it"

or simply put I can't live without them  :-)

/best regards

I have the same configuration (MacBook Pro, Vista, Swedish Keyboard) and I am experiencing the same problem with SlickEdit 11. The only difference is that sometimes the shortcuts magically starts to work until the next time I start SlickEdit.

Anyone found a solution?

There are a few possible issues.

First, SE v11 never officially supported Vista.
Second, it looks like there may have been some remaining Macbook support issues with Boot Camp Beta: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303575

If other apps seem to be fine, I'd bet it's the first reason.

Since the beta ends on Friday, I'll wait for Leopard and throw the new Boot Camp on an Intel mac to test SE v11 and SE 2007 (Sorry, no macbooks here).
