help: categories and the "C" interface
« on: July 21, 2016, 11:50:26 PM »
#1 Seems like many things in the help file index are not in the "Contents" - as the "Sync" button doesn't work.
Might be nice if Contents was more complete.

#2 The Slick "C" api functions, (in programfiles\slick\h\...) seem to be in the index but their categories are wrong.
For example vsLoadTemplate.
In slickc.h:

  * @categories Window_Functions
When you goto this page in help from the index, at the bottom: (qthelp://com.slickedit.texteditor/doc/api/vsLoadTemplate.html)
Category: Window Functions

But, clicking on "Windows functions" takes you to a page that doesn't mention vsLoadTemplate.
    qthelp://com.slickedit.texteditor/doc/api/Window_Functions.html

vsLoadTemplate is on the page "C Window functions"
qthelp://com.slickedit.texteditor/doc/api/CPP_Window_Functions.html

I think all the "C" functions are categorized a "C ${Category:}", but their references to categories aren't also prefixed with "C".

"C Window functions" can only be found by search. (Oh, it is in the index as cpp_window_functions, but who would ever think to try that?)

There are some quirks here.

Just use the "Macro Functions by Category" on the Help menu. It was specifically added for quick access to the API categories.
